All Saints Church
Congratulations to Katherine and Craig on their marriage on 6 August. What a lovely village occasion. The bells rang, the weather was fine the bride was beautiful, the bridegroom handsome and Paula and Pat looked as though they were enjoying every minute as proud parents of the bride. Congratulations to everyone who helped to make the Church look so beautiful (and to the new members of the bell-ringing team!), the Church sparkled and the flowers were beautiful. Stirling work was done by the team who cleaned out the bell tower and Alan who made sure that the bells worked on the day!!
In July the concert by Amici was enjoyed by everyone. The American theme went down very well and the weather was kind to us….a superb supper was served in a beautiful Buckworth sunset. Just over £1500 was raised on that evening for the restoration fund. This will enable more windows to be refurbished and to pay this year’s instalment of the loan from Historic Churches.
The Gift Aid Scheme is up and running although not as well supported as hoped. Please will you sign a gift aid declaration? It will enable 28p in the pound to be claimed from the Inland Revenue for every £1 you have donated to the Church since 1 April 2000. Please contact me if you would like further information or to sign a declaration. Thanks to those of you who have already signed and enable the Church to claim back £500 so far.
Condolences to Don Simmonds on the death of his Mum and the recent interment of her ashes in the churchyard. Thanks also to Don for trimming the trees so tastefully along Church Road.
