Welcome to the new family (Lucy & Mark) in Old Corner Cottage
Council met on 25 January & 5 March. The main topic being the amalgamation of the 3 parish councils. Council submitted the view that it was not in Buckworth’s’ interest to be amalgamated with Leighton Bromswold and Barham & Woolley parishes. With a reduction to 5 councillors representing all 3 parishes Councillors couldn’t see how the individual needs of each parish could be maintained. The other parishes involved are of a similar mind and have submitted these views.
At the March meeting it was decided to organize a St Georges Day 23 April celebration…..Councils and other organizations are being encouraged to keep this national day alive and to celebrate it in the way that other countries celebrate their national days. A flyer was sent round the village and tickets have been on sale since 8 March.
The current council finishes its term of office in May. Nominations for Councillors have to be in at Pathfinder House in Huntingdon by Noon on 3 April. Nomination forms are available from Pathfinder House in Huntingdon or the Clerk.

A tragic motorcycle accident has taken another Buckworth lad. Russell Pannell used to live in 1 Shafto Cottages…he was killed when his bike was in collision with a car earlier this month. We extend sympathy to Russell’s family.
The Annual Meeting of the Parochial Church Council took place along with election of officers etc on 11 March following the Family Service. The Treasurer’s report was presented for the year ending 31 December 06. This report showed that funds are continuing to remain stable; both restoration and maintenance work are now proceeding thanks to the excellent fund raising events throughout the year.
Following the Quinquennial Inspection a working party will be set up to try and address some of the issues raised. If you feel you have a particular skill (or are willing to assist in anyway!) please contact Alan Hatfield on 890676.
A vote of thanks was given to all involved including supporters of these events
