A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS & A PEACEFUL AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR All Saints Church
The Concert in July and Garden Party in August went very well. The wonderful Harvest Supper at the Cricket Club was a great joint effort. As usual Margaret Warrener’s cooking went down a treat. Many, many thanks to Elaine and everyone who provided food and helped with this and all our village events this year…All Saints Church The Concert in July and Garden Party in August went very well. Carols By Candle Light
Sunday 13 December 3pm come along and sing your favourite carols and listen to wonderful readings. The children will be singing again this year! (What has Sharon got in store for us this time! We still have last year’s little donkeys wandering around the village!) Join us for festive nibbles afterwards.

Christmas Eve Midnight Service at Buckworth 11.30pm.
Christmas Day Service 11am Barham.

There will again be changes to Sunday Services in Church. Jonathan & Martin are now looking after 10 parishes but hope to keep Buckworth to 3 services per month (probably 2nd, 3rd 4th Sundays, watch noticeboard for further details)
You will probably have heard about the problems with the church bells …if anyone has £40000 to spare they can be restored, not to their former glory, but even better. We should know more in the spring when further investigations and some work will be carried out…needless to say it won’t be £40000’s worth! If you would like further information please contact me. I shall continue to ring one bell.

The Parish Pump is available from the Farm Shop or the Post Office in Alconbury. Or you can pay me £3 for a years’ copies. Next £3 due January.

You will be pleased to know that Nell Groom is progressing very well after her fall….latest photo of her is on Facebook on the Cricket Club’s page.

This year we only had two entries in the Alconbury Show there were no winner but a further donation of £50 from the Alconbury Show Committee to the Church has arrived for which we are very grateful. The Show is another source of community involvement and enjoyment.. more entries next year please.

Parish Council….met in September, & November when the precept for 2010-2011 was set. The council no longer has a paid clerk, Fiona Morrison (890885) is Acting Clerk and the Chairman, Stuart Martin (891543) is the Responsible Financial Officer. Contact with Council can be made at Buckworthclerk@aol.com or as above. It looks as though the development of the site at the corner of Church & Hamerton Rd will go ahead. Unfortunately the village web site is experiencing problems and so may not be up to date for some time. At the time of writing 2 new trees are being planted to replace ones that have died.

Ladies Group… has met throughout the year. The latest meeting on the first Tues in December was the Christmas meal catered for in the increasingly popular Cricket Club. An excellent evening was enjoyed by 15 members of the group! Many thanks to Yvonne & Paula for all their hard work keeping the group alive and entertaining. It may be that the format of the Ladies Group meetings will change in 2010 for more info contact Yvonne 890058 or Paula 890306l

Cricket Club….continues to open at the usual times Weds, Fri, Sat, and Sunday. The Parish Council holds meetings there as does Ladies Group. The Cricket Club now produces its own news sheet the Tally Ho! advertising the many very successful events being organized. The most recent was the Christmas Bazaar which was well attended and very enjoyable. Funds were raised for the Club and the Church via a cake stall. It is hoped that the Bazaar and many of the other events will become yearly events. Congratulations to the Committee for its hard work raising the profile of the Club within the community and providing a cheerful, pleasant village location with events to suit all ages. Watch out for forthcoming events & changes to opening times over Christmas and the New Year…..have you got your act ready for Buckworth’s Got Talent?!!!!.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
It’s that time of year again and we have been warned about bag snatchers and pick pockets. Beware the postal scam where you are told that a parcel is waiting for you ….you ring the premium rate number (in Belize) and can be charged as much as £20 for the call with no parcel at the end of it. For an up date on all the current scams you can visit the trading standards web site. Please make sure all doors including car doors are safely locked!!
