Cricket Club Opening Hours
The club bar is run by volunteers and the Committee is only too pleased to open the bar for members, but regular opening has been reduced to Friday and Saturday evenings due to lack of support. A trial of opening Sunday lunchtime is currently under way.

If you wish to use the club for a special event or a meeting please contact one of the committee.

Please continue to support the Supper Club & make the extra work worthwhile. It is so enjoyable but unfair to put the work on the same people every time. Would you like to join the rota of people willing to cook for the Club? With enough volunteers it would mean you would only have to cook once in a while, you can do main course or pudding or both....you choose. Phone Yvonne on 890058

Is coming along nicely, the next job is to decorate the inside of the Club whilst the weather is still good. Many thanks to all supporting the Committeeís efforts! There has been some wonderful events organised by the committee and making the Club more comfortable can only make it more appealing to everyone.

All Saints Church.... We welcome the Revíd Mary Jepp as our new Priest in Charge. She is gradually getting used to us and our Church and is hoping to get to know everyone in the village. It will take a little time; there are still 5 parishes in the patch. Donít miss the Taize Service on Sunday 4 September. This is something we havenít had in Buckworth before; lots of people I have spoken to say that it is very calming and peaceful, and the music beautiful.
The problems with the tower and spire are still with us. The work has been out to tender and the price for the work varies between £26000 and £38000. There had been a promise of 2 grants towards the work but one has been withdrawn. Hopefully the one grant and the monies raised in the Church Restoration Fund will cover what is needed. The paperwork is horrendous and if you see a little white haired old lady in the village it will be me!!!
The concert with Amici in July was spectacular and raised an amazing £1999.80p (plus the gift-aid I can claim back. Are you signed up for gift aid? I makes any money you give to Church is worth another 25p in the pound when I claim it back! Many thanks to all who gave their time and money to produce this wonderful evening.
In some ways it was a sad event as one of our regular singers/conductors has since died. Many of you will have noticed how ill Julia Popple looked, but one of her last wishes was to come to Buckworth and sing in our Church again. We send our sympathy and warmest wishes to her husband, family and friends.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Jen & Richard on their marriage Saturday 6 August. The sun shone, the bride and bridesmaids were beautiful, the Church was dressed in lovely flowers. The horse & carriage was impressive (even if it did take a little while to get the bride and groom to Leighton Bromswold!). The food and music at the reception were most enjoyable......oh and I forgot.... the groom looked quite handsome too! Friends and family wish them every happiness in their new life together.

Welcome to Amanda & Nic Cox who have moved into the Rowans. We hope that you will come to love Buckworth and itsí strange assortment of residents as much as we do.

Goodbye to Trisha Hatfield who has lived in Buckworth for over 30 years. We shall miss you but Alconbury isnít that far away........and we know where you are!

No doubt before I do the next Bugle Stuart will have moved out of the Old School House. We hope all goes well, we shall really miss you, who will be Chairman of the Parish Council now? We really did hope that you and Joan would stay in the village, but wish you both every happiness together in Leighton Buzzard.

I have tried to include all the events happening in the village until the middle of October. I apologise if I have missed you out.

Hazel Cooper Editor (for want of a better name!)
