NEWS & DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
ALL SAINTS CHURCH
What a busy year finishing off work in the tower and then all the fundraising. We should know this month how successful the application to English Heritage has been. If successful the work could take a number of years and put the Church out of action for a while. As soon as news is available a further report will be circulated. With thanks to Glyn Popeley for agreeing to project manage the scheme.
Special Church Services
CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT
Sunday 16 December, 3pm..Bring a torch & wrap up well!

The fundraising has been amazing this year with St George’s Day, and the big Jubilee draw, the Amici concert, Harvest Supper and Trafalgar Night, cake stall at the Christmas Bazaar. So much goodwill and community enjoyment! Many, many thanks to all who contribute time and money to make these events so successful!
Are you signed up for Gift Aid? Any donation you make to the Church can be increased by 25% if you sign up and are a UK tax payer. Buckworth Church desperately needs your donations, trying to keep the building standing becomes more difficult each year.
. PARISH COUNCIL the next meeting will be held on Monday 14 January 2013. Agendas and minutes for all council meetings can be found on www.Buckworth.org.uk To contact the Council email Buckworthclerk@aol.com or ring the Chairman on 890982 or Fiona Morrison the acting clerk on 890885 or any Council Member.
What a great success the Queen’s Jubilee turned out to be! The weather tried its best to spoil it but Buckworth can cope with rain, eat a hog roast play games, take a village photo and have a jolly good time no matter what. Many thanks to Chairman and Councillors for arranging such a memorable day!
LADIES GROUP continues to meet occasionally. The talks by Amanda Cox on her Olympic swimming were very enjoyable. The May fashion show was very successful as was the November one. The annual Christmas meal is on Tues 11 November. For further details contact Yvonne on 890151 or Paula 890306. If you would like to help run the group please speak to them to find out what is involved.
BUCKWORTH BROWSERS The next meetings of the Book Club will be held on Weds 12 Dec‘12 & 9 Jan, 6 Feb 2013, 7.30pm in the Cricket Club. We look forward to more light hearted meetings and interesting speakers in 2013. Meetings are fun with lively discussions on literature including the “odd” favourite poem; also book and magazine swaps. We have a variety of book types over the coming months (everyone reads at their own speed, there is no pressure to finish a book by a certain date). If you would like further information about the club contact me on 890982 or just come along to the meeting. The library van still comes once a month on the first Thursday in the month at 2.40pm.

It is with regret that I report the death of Peter Fowler, a long time member of Buckworth Cricket Club. His larger than life character will be greatly missed. RIP
