Easter 2013 Edition - (last updated 15/03/2013)

English Heritage has kindly offered some funding for repairs to the Church. Detailed surveys of the works needed are due to be carried out shortly, with a view to work starting next year. It is a huge undertaking and a lot of further fundraising will have to be done as the PCC has to find 20% of the cost of the works. Grants from other bodies have been applied for.

It is great to see all age groups represented and having a good time...many thanks to Connie for keeping up the good work and all who helped and entertained. Thanks to Amelia for opening the show.

-------------------------------------------------- A Big Thank You to the officers and members of the current committee. This last year has seen so much effort put into the refurbishment of the building and the providing of entertainment, it is truly amazing.
“Newcomers” Amanda & Nic Cox have put in so much effort, carrying on the tradition of members who have given their time to help the Club survive. People in other villages cannot believe the number of social events we have on offer...the clubs and meetings, the general community spirit; we are very lucky to have so many people willing to be involved. We look forward to another year of that spirit continuing.

Let’s hope there will be more to celebrate in 2013 , we enjoyed such a good Jubilee Year! Buckworth enjoys a good party!!
You may have noticed the tree planted on the grass verge by the telephone box? This tree and surround was given by the District Council to commemorate the Jubilee, it was planted by the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Parish Council. A fitting end to our Jubilee celebrations!.

A more recent celebration......the birth of Maisie Hateley to proud parents Maggie and Neil.. How long before she’s ready for Buckworth’s Got Talent?

Stop Press...... £750 grant awarded to Church Restoration Fund by Woolley Wind Farm company ....thanks to Don for his efforts.

All tickets for the 100 Club have now been sold, first draw to be made at the St George’s Supper; £500 already gone to the Restoration Fund....well done Margaret and Elaine! Good luck in the draw!

Well done to the” Red Nosers” who paid to” bake off” cakes and buns and then paid to eat them for Comic Relief!! Also Peter who had his beard shaved off, big thank you to him and the sponsors who gave so much money! To date the amount raised is heading towards £250. The St Patrick’s Lunch was a great success too!
